Lado Batra, is a 25 years old Event Manager who manages her firm – STAGES By Lado. She says that she never had interest in studies. Lado left her job because she thought full time job was not her thing. But, she had dreams to become an entrepreneur, that came true when she decided to take up ‘Event planning’ for one of her friend’s Engagement. Lado shares about her business journey with WOI.
Do whatever you want to do, never think you can’t do it. Just give it a try It may/may not work out but at least you try!
Basically, I am a kind of person who can talk to anybody and get along with them. People always ask me how I manage so many friends! And From the time when I was kid I never liked to study and it continued throughout. As a result I couldn’t get into a good college and not get the course I wanted. But I was fine with it. It didn’t matter much because I never cared then. After I finished College, I was wondering what to do. I got a Job at Toyota I was there for 6 months and I quit. It wasn’t that I could not do it or anything – It wasn’t me. I couldn’t feel anything! I felt like I could do something else.
Then I joined my dad’s business and I was helping him. While I was working there I did an Executive Diploma in International business. While I was doing my Diploma, My friends and I thought we could start something together -some business which we can do. We actually thought of doing event planning. But at that moment, nothing happened. Nothing worked out. But then a few month later, I started and it is been amazing since then.
Last year my very good friend was getting married so I asked her if I could do her engagement and she agreed and it was a huge success and there was no looking back at all. I started getting events from people who liked my work. After 6 months, the same friend wanted me to do her wedding. And this is how it all started.
STAGES by Lado is an event management company. We do all kinds of events basically we specialize in weddings but we do birthday parties, baby showers, parties, corporate events too. Actually name us an event and we can do it.
Building a brand is the main and the most difficult thing for any business. Specially, in my business -an event is like an exam that I can only do once and I do not have a choice to mess things up. My only choice is to get better each time otherwise we can’t last in this industry. But I love how challenging it is it makes me work harder.
It feels amazing to be an entrepreneur. I feel so much more confident, responsible. I’m only 25 but I feel like I’m doing well. Also to see my mom’s face every time I get an event –priceless! I learnt that nothing comes easy, nothing at all. I need to work hard and event planning has a lot of sleepless nights. Every time, I learn so much.
Event planning is a full time job. And since I own the company it is my responsibility. I Just keep working. My family and my friends are my greatest support. Other than managing my business, I still go help my dad at work whenever he needs me.
I always believe in growing together. So, I always like to help people grow around me no matter who it is. Even, if they are in the same industry. I believe that you can’t grow if you don’t grow together.
– says Lado.
